Web Survey Bibliography
Nicht viele wissenschaftliche Langzeitstudien in Europa oder in den Vereinigten Staaten stützen sich auf Online-Panels. In führenden wissenschaftlichen Studien wird zur Datenerhebung meist auf Face-to-Face-Interviews oder Telefoninterviews zurückgegriffen. Im Vergleich dazu ist die Internetbefragung kosteneffizienter und bietet der empirischen Forschung in den Sozialwissenschaften verschiedene neue Möglichkeiten. Grundsätzlich können neue oder komplexe Konzepte innerhalb viel kürzerer Zeitrahmen bewertet werden, als dies in der herkömmlichen Meinungsforschung üblich ist. Außerdem sind technologiebedingt z.B. experimentelle Untersuchungen, die Erhebung von Folgedaten und ein Feedback der Befragten möglich. Basierend auf früheren Erfahrungen mit einem wissenschaftlichen Online-Panel wurde in den Niederlanden eine moderne Datenerhebungsumgebung für die Sozialwissenschaften geschaffen. Es handelt sich dabei um eine moderne multidisziplinäre Einrichtung für Erhebungen und experimentelle Untersuchungen in den Sozialwissenschaften mit der Kurzbezeichung MESS (Advanced Multi-Disciplinary Facility for Measurement and Experimentation in the Social Sciences). Die Einrichtung bietet optimale Innovationsmöglichkeiten, ist schnell und für alle Mitglieder der akademischen Gemeinschaft frei zugänglich. Zentraler Bestandteil ist ein repräsentatives Panel von Haushalten, die sich einverstanden erklärt haben, für regelmäßige Interviews über das Internet verfügbar zu sein: das LISS-Panel (LISS: Longitudinal Internet Studies for the Social Sciences). Neben herkömmlichen Fragebögen stützt sich die Einrichtung auf optische Schautafeln, das Preloading von Daten und den selbstverwalteten Einsatz von Biomarkern. Das Projekt zielt auf die Integration verschiedener Studiengebiete ab, Wirtschaft, Sozialwissenschaften, (Bio)Medizinische Wissenschaften und Verhaltenswissenschaften.
